Can landline phones also have mobile phone features?

Now here in India we need a telephone directory to keep note of names and phone numbers. Can these be stored in landline phones just like mobile phones? Just curious.

Now days, almost all new model cordless home phones have the ability to store names and numbers for quick access and dialing.
I use Panasonic cordless phones for home use which can store up to 50 phone book entries.
